Kiss Me at Midnight Page 3

  He looks debauched and beautiful.

Blake is still gripping onto the headboard, his eyes closed, a blissful smile spreading onto his face. When peers down, a warm look of affection radiates off him, and Aiden’s chest tightens.

“I don’t know where the fuck you learned that,” Blake says between gasps of breath, “but if you fuck at all like that, I’m keeping you forever.”

“Oh is that the prerequisite?” Aiden teases.

“Hell yes,” Blake announces, hiking a leg over and collapsing onto the mattress on his back, staring at the ceiling. He flings an arm over his head with a happy sigh.

Aiden takes the opportunity to half-heartedly wipe at the sticky mess on his face, just to give himself something to do.

This is the make or break part, the part where the person you’ve had sex with sets the tone of what will happen next. Aiden really wants a shower, but he doesn’t know if he can ask about that. At the very least he can rinse off his face.

But really, he just doesn’t want to go back to his apartment smelling of sex and jizz. He will if he has to, but it’s not exactly preferable.

It doesn’t help too that getting a ride home will be a fucking nightmare. He was prepared to pay the ridiculous fee at the party, because his intention was to leave early, but now it’s well past midnight and all the options are going to be swamped and have surge pricing.

Really, Aiden knows, it’s that he doesn’t want to ring in his new year by going to bed alone.

Blake shifts until he’s on his side, the flat of his hand settling onto Aiden’s chest.

“Wanna stay?” he whispers, earning a surprised look from Aiden. He has a moment where he wonders if he just made his secret confession known. “I mean if you want,” he adds quickly.

Blake smiles again, but instead of that usual flirtatious confidence, it’s actually sheepish. Aiden likes it. He likes it a lot. “It’s just the breakfast here is pretty legit and I figured we could try it out. Together.”

“Yeah?” Aiden whispers, too scared to speak louder. Just in case he didn’t hear him right.

“Yeah,” Blake says with that blinding wide smile, a finger tracing over the corner of Aiden’s mouth and down his throat. “Wanna shower? I feel kinda gross.”

Aiden snorts because it’s not as if Blake is the one that has dried come all over his face. But he definitely wants a shower.

  “That sounds amazing.”

The shower stall is as glamorous as the rest of the suite, with a separate jacuzzi tub sitting in the corner. Aiden secretly wonders if they can test it out together later.

The water is hot and relaxing, and instead of focusing on cleaning off the mess of sex, their shower turns into a heavy makeout session. Aiden decides to take his time tasting Blake’s wet skin with his tongue, which then turns into Blake jerking Aiden off as water flows in thick rivulets over Blake’s shoulders, his hair tickling Aiden’s chin while he nibbles and sucks on his neck.

Aiden hasn’t been jerked off in a shower in a long time, and he forgot how wonderful it can feel with the cold tile against his back mixed with thick steam floating around his head.

When he finally spills over Blake’s hand with a shocked gasp, Blake smiles against his neck and says, “That’s to make up for the mind-blowing orgasm you gave me.”

“It’s not a contest,” Aiden says, closing his eyes in exhaustion.

Blake begins to soap up his body, deft hands roving over Aiden’s body in even strokes. It feels amazing and relaxing. Aiden nearly falls asleep standing up.

“Trust me, I’m being courteous,” Blake says, heavy with amusement. “I can’t in good conscience go to sleep knowing that you got the short end of the orgasm stick.”

Aiden pulls Blake close, their bodies flushing together. He sweeps his tongue over the seam of Blake’s lips, dragging it over the roof of his mouth. Blake moans, closing in the gap, and biting on Aiden’s bottom lip. They continue to kiss lazily under the warm water.

When they get into bed, Aiden feels the weight of his exhaustion. The mattress is soft and wraps around his sex-ached body like a glove. Blake scoots closer, his arm gliding over Aiden’s middle, his eyebrows raised.

  “This okay?”

Aiden can’t help but smile. “Of course.”

Blake leans forward and kisses Aiden. It’s not urgent or heated like it was before, but soft and languid and...sweet. It makes AIden’s stomach do a little flip, and when they break the kiss, he reaches up and brushes back the hair that has fallen over Blake’s eyes.

“You know, I was checking you out at the party,” Blake says softly, his eyes shiny against the glow of the night outside. “Jesse told me you were single. I was just about to talk to you when that lady bumped into me and knocked my drink over.”

Aiden laughs, his thumb brushing along Blake’s jaw. “Well, I’m glad it worked out either way.”

“Yeah...me too,” Blake says sleepily. He closes his eyes, and sighs contentedly. Aiden continues to trace along his sharp jawline, the bottom of his lip.

“Blake?” he whispers, and Blake opens his eyes. They’re heavy with sleep, but alert.

  “Yeah?”

“I was wondering—” Aiden stops and swallows hard. Just ask it, he thinks to himself. “There’s a gig my friend is playing tomorrow night. I was wondering if maybe you’d want to...go with me?”

“Are you asking me out on a date?” Blake asks smugly.

  Aiden pushes on his shoulder.

“Shut up,” he retorts without any heat. Then he pauses. “And yes.”

Blake hums happily, hooking a leg over Blake’s calf. He brushes his lips against Aiden’s chin, gliding towards his mouth. “Yes,” he whispers against his lips. “That would be great.”

  Aiden smiles. “Great.”

“But just so you know,” Blake says with heavy seriousness. “I don’t put out on the first date.”

Aiden laughs, and pulls him close. “Somehow I get the idea we’ll manage.”

  Prologue

Jesse startles awake to an acidic taste of leftover gin and some sugary shot he took before allowing his body to fall and land on the bed below him. Bright fluorescent lights from the Strip flash in a staccato rhythm, glittering through a small patch where the blackout curtains didn’t close all the way. Jesse sighs.

He’s in Vegas. Which means Sheila’s wedding hasn’t happened yet. Which means...

“Oh shit,” Jesse groans, his hands covering his face. It doesn’t help assuage the roiling in his stomach, whether it’s from exorbitant amount of alcohol he consumed the night before, or the realization he’s married his best friend in a last minute drunken idea. B
ecause he’s supposed to be dating his best friend.

“Oh my god,” Jesse says louder to the hotel room at large. The bed shifts next to him, and he twists to see a body burritoed in a tangle of white blankets and sheets. There’s a messy mop of auburn hair peeking out from the top.

Luke emerges from his blanketed slumber and starts rubbing at his eyes. He blinks up at the ceiling and Jesse cannot stop the hammering of his heart. Maybe he should throw up. This cannot be real. Last night didn’t happen; it’s just some fucked up, crazy-ass dream and if he thinks hard enough, he can pull himself out of it.

Then Luke turns, that lopsided smile that always makes Jesse’s stomach do that weird twisting thing that has never happened with anyone else.

  “Morning, hubby.”

  Well, shit.
